Agbelonews Unmasks Members Of Imiegba Professionals Association

By Suleiman Ugbokhe

The identity of the membership of Imiegba Professionals Association has been uncovered and laid bare by Agbelonews.

The association’s existence first came to light in 2013, when a copy of the letter it wrote to Edo state government emerged in Imiegba Community.

The letter dated February 5, 2013, and entitled “AN APPEAL FOR THE PROMULGATION OF IMIEGBA CHIEFTAINCY DECLARATION,” and signed by two lawyer indigenes of Imiegba – Barr. Abdulrahman Oghele Eshikhena and Barr. Kennedy Khanoba - was an appeal to the state government by the amorphous association to sign a purported chieftaincy declaration made by Imiegba community.

Immediately the letter became a public knowledge, the then National President of Imiegba Urualo Development Union (IUDU), Alhaji Sule Obada swung into action and travelled from his Lagos base to Imiegba to brief the Council of Elders, led by the then Odegbe (Oldest man and Spiritual Head) of Imiegba, Pa Umoru Ighozo Emioye and the people about the clandestine activities of some unidentified indigenes of Imiegba, operating under the name of Imiegba Professionals Association.

Aside the two people who signed the letter, nothing was known about the members of the association.

Things remained this way until May 4, 2019, when Professor Yahaya Mijinyawa created a group account in WhatsApp titled IMIEGBA COMM PLATFORM.

In a part of his introductory post on the Platform, Professor Mijinyawa said: “In furtherance of the effort to reach as many indigenes of Imiegba as possible and share ideas on a number of issues, this Platform is being created....

“The primary goal of the platform is to interact, share ideas and pass information on anything that has to do with Imiegba and the Imiegba people.”

It was in the course of exercising these objectives that a member asked Barrister Kennedy Khanoba, now the sole signatory of the IPA letter alive, to let the Platform members to know the names of the members of the association.

But his imperial and impervious response, “IPA is open to every professional of Imiegba decent. You can join if you want. Application form is just 10k. We are registered so our records are open to the public for a fee.  If you really want to know our membership strength, I believe you know were to go. IPA is open and our membership cuts across all the kindred in Imiegba,” provided the needed elixir for Agbelonews to go “hunting in Cacoa Forest”!

The outcome of this “hunting” shows that the chief architect (no pun intended) of Imiegba Professionals Association and whatever they stand for, is Mamudu Oyarelemi, as chairman.

With him as trustees of IPA, are Aliu Salihu; Eshikhena Abdulrahman Oghele (now deceased).

Other trustees are Azemobor Safiru; Mahmud Nuhu Uduanokhai and Kennedy Khanoba as the secretary.

In addition to the six named members/trustees, nine other names (suspected to be fictitious) are listed as “Registered members”:

1. Zanebu Alasa.
2. Ekpekwili Agbede.
3. Obozunya Specman.
4. Agbelor Oboareke.
5. Alhassan Suberu.
6. Clementina Sule.
7. Yunusa Sumaila.
8. Okphaobe Mumuni.
9. Zuletu Abdulkarem.

One post on the IMIEGBA COMM PLATFORM states, “The masquerades shall soon dance naked by the grace of God☝.”
