The Executive Chairman of Etsako East local government area, Hon. (Mrs) Benedicta Ebuehi has asked the people of the council area to renew their faith in God, even as her administration remains committed to engendering peace, safety and better living.
This was contained in her Easter message to the people in which she stated that "While this year's Easter is being observed in an atmosphere of health concerns because of coronavirus, the lessons of Easter as embodied by Jesus Christ must not be lost on us.
"Even in the face of imminent arrest, Jesus Christ admonished his disciples to keep the peace, 'Put up again thy sword into its place; for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.' And after being crucified for unjust reasons, Jesus asked for forgiveness for those who crucified him, saying 'Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do'."
Hon. (Mrs) Benedicta Ebuehi advised the people of Etsako East to use the opportunity offered by the Easter festivities to forgive one another and promote peaceful coexistence with their neighbours.
"Nothing best stimulates progress and development in any given society than peace," the Executive Chairman stated.
"As my administration in conjunction with the vibrant Edo state government under the able leadership of our Governor, His Excellency, Godwin Obaseki take concrete steps to curtail the spread of coronavirus in the state and ameliorate the hardship facing the people on account of the pandemic, it is expedient that we continue to observe the covid-19 guidelines - social distancing, regular washing of your hands with soap and water, rubbing your hands with sanitizer, coughing and sneezing into your elbow and regular drinking of water."
"I wish you all, my dear people of Etsako East local government area a blissful observance of Easter," Hon. (Mrs) Benedicta Ebuehi concluded.
