The Executive Chairman of Etsako East local government area, Hon. (Mrs) Benedicta Ebuehi, has assured the members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), with Governor Godwin Obaseki as its candidate, that the Party will win the forthcoming governorship election overwhelmingly by God's grace.
She stated this over the weekend in Agenebode during the inauguration of the party's 39-member Etsako East Campaign Council headed by Hon. Abass Jega.

"I believe in God that we are going to win overwhelmingly. The APC numerous surveys have confirmed this. It is their own survey. It was not conducted by PDP," she said.
The Council Boss lamented that APC members realising that they were facing imminent and inevitable defeat come September 19, 2020, were resorting to violence against PDP members.
"We have heard from the leaders of the party. What is left for me to add on behalf of the local government is to say that as far as I am concerned, this project has the finger of God but members of the APC have resorted to violence. If you know you have the people; if you know you can win on the basis of popularity, why fighting?," the Executive Chairman asked.
"Over the weekend, they attacked the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG) in Okpella, Ward 8. They attacked him. They destroyed his vehicle and many other vehicles. They beat up women. They attacked people. I have the photographs.
"In my Ward last week, they almost severed the palm of one PDP youth. So, this has been happening. Another PDP youth in my ward was also stabbed a couple of weeks ago - all perpetrated by the APC boys."
However, Hon. (Mrs) Benedicta Ebuehi advised the PDP members to resist all forms of provocation as the game plan of APC is to disrupt the governship election.
"Please, I want to urge you not to give them the opportunity to scramble the votes that we have. That is their plan - destroy their (PDP's) votes," she admonished.
"What we all need to do now is to go back home and begin to canvass, whether you are a party leader or not, as far as you belong to the PDP; as far as you are sympathetic to the cause of Godwin Obaseki and Philip Shaibu; as long as you have decided to stand with them, it is now left for you to go home an begin to canvass."

The local government party Chairman, Hon. Vincent Ekpomoriri had earlier stated in his remarks that "Our main aim of coming together today is to remind ourselves that we have an assignment. And that assignment is very dear to our hearts and we have to execute that assignment with all commitments and concerns as it has to do with the delivery of Godwin Obaseki/Philip Shaibu to Osadebe Avenue."
The Chairman of the Campaign Council, Hon. Abass Jega in his remarks said "We are accepting this responsibility with all our hearts and by the grace of God, we are going to discharge this onerous responsibility with all that it takes to do so.
"We will ensure that on the 19th of September, Godwin Obaseki and Philip Shaibu will be reelected to Government House."
Hon. Moses Agbukor, Commissioner for Water Resources told the gathering that the campaign is good to go, saying "We are not asked to insult people; we are not asked to victimise people; we are not asked to terrorise people; we are asked to tell people that between the two candidates, one is light and the other one is darkness.

"Governor Godwin Obaseki and Philip Shaibu are the light that is taking Edo state forward."
