Edo State House of Assembly

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate in the Edo State House of
Assembly, Etsako West local government area, Mr. Dada Abubakar, has said that Auchi would not succumb to blackmail being orchestrated by the member representing Etsako West Constituency 1 of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Gani Audu that Auchi cannot lay claim to the House of Assembly seat having produced the local government area Chairman and a serving state Commissioner.

Mr. Dada Abubakar made this declaration in Auchi while addressing his supporters over his re-affirmation as the PDP candidate in the forthcoming 2019 general elections.

According to Dada Abubakar, who contested against the incumbent in the 2015 House of Assembly elections, “It is ridiculous that instead of the incumbent exhibiting his achievements in office, he is rather blackmailing Auchi whose support gave him the legislative seat with illogical facts”.

Moreover, Mr. Abubakar reveals that with its numerical voting strength of about 43,000 registered voters, Auchi can afford to rotate the legislative seat among the four wards in the town, but in the spirit of fairness and justice, the people of Auchi opted to support zoning arrangement along with the 3 ward strength of the Constituency whose combined voting strength is about 23,000.

“Auchi community willingly supported the Agbede Community, which constitutes a ward in the constituency consistently to win the House of Assembly elections for 8 years. Auchi is now urging the incumbent
to drop a 3rd term ambition for the ward in the spirit of gentleman zoning arrangement,” the aspirant said.

Mr. Dada Abubakar, who presently enjoys the goodwill of Auchi Community in his bid to win the House of Assembly election, promised if elected to “apart from legislative functions, concentrate on youth empowerment with special emphasis on widows and orphans using the social responsibility windows of United Nations Agencies, Federal government agencies and Non Governmental Organization, NGOs.”
