The Executive Chairman of Etsako East local government council, Hon. (Mrs) Benedicta Ebuehi has reached out to the Traditional Rulers and Islamic Leaders in the local government area and reminded them that the government ban on congregational prayers still stands.

No gathering of more than 20 for religious or other reasons is allowed for now as a means of curtailing the spread of the dreaded corona virus.

The reminder is coming ahead of the upcoming Eid-el-Fitr celebration by the Muslims which marks the end of the annual one month Ramadan (fasting) exercise.

"Please, be reminded that the government ban on Congregational prayers in Churches and Mosques, including outdoor (Eid praying ground) group prayers is still in force," she stated.

"This measure as has been said before is for the protection of all of us against the dreaded coronavirus pandemic.

"For now, it is safer to offer your prayers at home to guard against the spread of COVID-19.

"I wish you all a happy Eid-el-Fitr celebration."
