Edo People Are Not Asking For Too Much, Says Obaseki "My government is committed to providing the basic needs of the people to live

The Executive Governor of Edo state, His Excellency, Godwin Obaseki stormed Etsako East local government area yesterday to unfold his good plans for the people of the state as he continues his campaign tour of the state seeking a second term of office.

On hand to welcome him and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu, to the council area, was the untiring amazon and Executive Chairman of the local government area, Hon. (Mrs) Benedicta Ebuehi.

The first point of call was the Palace of the Ogie-Eppa of Weppa Clan(Ward4), HRH, Moses Akpamuka Etsu, who described Godwin Obaseki as "The Governor who promised and delivered," recalling an event few years ago when he and his people had to wait for the Governor on appointment and when he showed up and listened to their requests, the Governor promised to get back to them.

"The Governor kept to his promise to get back to us. The result of which is the creation of Weppa Clan," the Royal Father stated.

In his remarks, His Excellency, Godwin Obaseki said the people of Edo state were not asking for too much and that his government was committed to providing the basic needs of the people to live.

"What is remarkable is that our people in Edo state are not asking for too much...," the Governor said.

"We are committed to ensuring that we provide the basic needs that would allow people live; infrastructures, roads for them to go and do their businesses and earn a living. That is not asking for too much.
They are asking for schools, education to train their children, so that these children could become useful to themselves, useful to the larger community and also become economic assets."

The next stop of the campaign moving train of Governor Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu after a public rally in Weppa was at the palace of the Okumagbe of Uwanno Clan.

At the Okumagbe Palace, Agenebode, HRM, George Oshapi Egabor, said four years ago he said Godwin Obaseki, whom he described as his "professional colleague, was going to win, not because he(HRM) had a crystal ball but because of the world acclaimed financial management skill of the Governor.

Four years ago, when you came here, I said you were going to win. It was not as if I had a crystal ball; it was because of your world acclaimed financial management acumen" the Okumagbe said..
"Today, you are here again. I am not going to say you are going to win or not, but God willing you are going to win because your financial management has enabled you to pay salaries to workers and pension to pensioners; build infrastructures like modular refinery. Now that you are here to seek my support for your second term, I am sure my people and I are endorsing you"

At the rally in Agenebode, the Gvbernor told the peoplle that the School of Agriculture is coming back to Agenebode(Ward1), saying, "I have signed the law to that effect. I will tar the street roads in Agenebode."

The Governor and his mammoth entourage also visited two Wards of Iviegbepui and Iviukwe, where he assured the people of his administration's commitment to providing their needs.

Okpella-Ivie-Agenebode road is a top priority

At both Okpekpe and Three Ivie Clans - Wards 10 and 9 respectively - the road from Okpella through Three Ivie and Okpekpe Clans to Agenebode was a major pronoucement by the Governor, who said the road was a top priority of his administration.

"It is hoped that this is the opportunity to concentrate on projects which I have not done, particularly the Okpella-Agenebode which passes through here (Okpekpe and Three Ivie) is going to be a priority...," the Governor announced.

"So, for me, it is a priority. Fortunately, the consultants are already working on the design and I am going to expedite the process so that I can have an idea of the cost. Once we do that, I will ask the Secretary to prioritize it.

It is important for us because Okpekpe is now on the map of the world. We bring people here every year to come run the road race.
"Therefore, Apart from the benefits of tourism we also believe that by constructing this road we shall take advantage of the large expanse of land for agriculture because agriculture is also one of our priorities."
