A vice principal has been sentenced by an Ekiti state High Court to life imprisonment for raping one of his students aged 12 years (name withheld). The offence was said to have been committed in 2014 by the then vice principal, Taiwo Ajayi, of St. Mary's Girls Grammar School, Ikole-Ekiti, Ekiti state, Nigeria. The Nation newspaper reports the story thus: "The court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, found Ajayi guilty of raping a minor contrary to Section 31(2) of the Child Rights Law of Ekiti State 2012. The convict was the Vice Principal (Academics) at the time he committed the offence on March 18, 2014. "Ajayi lured the girl into his office, locked the door from behind and raped her on the table while blocking her mouth with a cloth. A detective probing judges accused of fraudulent practices has escaped death by the whiskers when he was attacked by unknown gun men in Port Harcourt, capital of River state, Nigeria on June 24, 2017. A 39-year-old man, Innocent Azamoregbe, has been charged to court for allegedly raping his 16-year-old niece at his residence in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos state of Nigeria. He appeared in court on Wednesday before Ikeja Chief Magistrates' Court charged with the rape of his niece. A 16-year-old boy has been arrested for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl in a public park. The incident was said to have happened on Saturday, at Nuthurst Park, Moston, Greater Manchester and the police were called in at about 6.55 in the evening after reports that the girl had been raped and the offending boy chased away by members of the public.
