The Highest Court in South Africa has ruled that the South Africa parliamentarians can vote secretly in a no-confidence vote exercise against the country's president, Jacob Zuma.
This is coming against the backdrop of unrelenting opposition's calls for the removal from office of Zuma over allegations of corruption.
According to BBC, the court ruling counters the claim by the Speaker, Baleka Mbete, of the parliament that she does not have the power to order a secret no-confidence vote against the president, arguing that the rules of the parliament do not allow for secret ballot.
With the court ruling, the Speaker who is a top ANC official may be left with no option but obey the court ruling.

The opposition which has consistently been calling for the head of President Zuma over corruption allegations believe that if a secret voting is allowed, Zuma will not survive a no-confidence vote, unlike in the past efforts which the President weathered.
The call for his removal heightened when the President removed the then highly respected Finance Minister, Pravin Gordhan, in a cabinet reshuffle in March this year.
"Responding to the ruling, the ANC said it would defeat the motion to remove Mr Zuma, which the opposition Democratic Alliance said presented an opportunity to oust a "toxic" president.
"A new date for a motion of no-confidence now has to be set.
"On top of the confidence votes, President Zuma has lost a number of prominent court cases against him, including one which ended with him being ordered to pay back a portion of state funds used to refurbish his private home in Nkandla.
"But it was the reshuffle that proved particularly damaging, with Mr Zuma facing calls from within his own party to resign," BBC reports.
