Death Toll Rises To 58 In Grenfell Tower Fire

The death toll from the blaze that engulfed the Grenfell Tower in West London has risen to 58, according to police. This figure is hinged on the fact that had emerged that 58 people who were in the tower on the night of the fire are yet to be accounted for.
If this casualty figure is confirmed, it would be the deadliest fire incident in London since the World War Two, according to Reuters reports.
“Sadly at this time, there are 58 people who we have been told were in Grenfell Tower on the night that are missing and therefore sadly I have to assume that they are dead,” Commander Stuart Cundy told journalists.
Cundy added that the figure could change. Police had previously put the death toll at 30.
“The figure of 30 that I gave yesterday is the number that I know, sadly, have, at least, died. So that 58 would include that 30,” he said.
