We Shall Overcome Our Challenges, Says Hon. Benedicta Ebuehi In New Year Message

The Executive Chairman of Etsako East local government area, Hon. (Mrs) Benedicta Ebuehi, has called on the people not to be despair in the face of the present socioeconomic and security challenges facing them, urging them to be brave and persevere in the struggle to stay afloat.


This was contained in her New Year message to them stating that the local government administration under her watch was not unmindful of the pains they have had to contend with last year.


"Last year was particularly hard on people. The situation was exacerbated by the onslaught of the coronavirus pandemic that brought economic activities to their knees all over the world," Hon. (Mrs) Benedicta Ebuehi said.


"But like the Spartans that we are, we must not give up the struggle because I firmly believe that as we enter a New Year there is light at the end of the tunnel and we shall overcome our challenges."


The Executive Chairman said that her administration is doing a lot in the areas of boosting the internal revenue generation to augment whatever comes from the Federation Account that has been adversely affected by the slump in oil prices at the global market made worse by the coronavirus pandemic.


"I am very mindful of the situation and hereby assure you that we are doing everything possible to ensure that the conditions of workers improve significantly in the New Year. We are currently identifying possible revenue sources to achieve this.


"I deeply appreciate the support you have given me in the course of the last one year and I hereby appeal to you to continue to extend same support in the new year.


"I wish each and every household in the local government area a happy New Year. And please, continue to observe the COVID-19 safety measures put in place by government as the coronavirus pandemic is not over yet.


"May God continue to bless you all in the New Year."
