The citizenry has been told not to desecrate the ideals the armed forces of Nigeria fought for and for which some of them died.
The Executive Chairman of Etsako East local government area, Hon. (Mrs) Benedicta Ebuehi stated this in her address on the occasion of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration held at Agenebode on Wednesday, January 15, 2020.
It was not meant to be a beauty contest, but the Executive Chairman's handsome beau, Mr. Benedict Ebuehi was beside his beautiful wife to give all the necessary support

"As you are no doubt aware, the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration is held annually to pay tributes to Nigerian soldiers who lost their lives during the 1st and 2nd World Wars including the Nigerian Civil War. It is also a period to remember and appreciate other compatriots and brothers who lost their lives in tbe course of prosecuting the various peace-keeping operations including the ECOMOG and Boko Haram insurgency which Nigeria as a country is still grappling with," the Chairman said.
Members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) were on hand to add colour to the ceremony

"I therefore enjoin you to greatly identify with the observance of this remarkable day and accord it greater significance in your scheme of things. Besides the gift of material and financial assistance, greater honour lies when we as a people demonstrate the resolve to uphold and enhance the noble ideals for which they fought and died. It is against this background that any action by any person or group of persons to destabilize the peace and corporate existence of this country should be resisted and condemned."

In his address, the Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Agenebode, Lt Col Abudu Simeon (rtd) solicited for the local government's assistance in renovating the Legion's office accommodation; procurement of uniforms for members; purchase of motorcycle for the Legion "to enable easy movement and running the Legion's affairs," the Legion Chairman said.
"I want to assure the Honourable Chairman and her officers of our cooperation and support at all times. We are tired, but not tired. Some of us can still work in offices and field works.
